Soren Seifi

Soren Seifi, PhD, is a highly experienced scientist specializing in plant pathology and genetics, currently serving as Lead Scientist in Pathology at Aurora Cannabis Inc. since February 2021. In this role, Soren focuses on the genetic mechanisms of cannabis resistance to important pathogens and the breeding of new resistant cultivars. Previously, Soren co-founded Harvest Genomics, providing genomics and NGS data analysis services. An extensive research background includes a postdoctoral position at the University of Guelph, studying wheat resistance to Fusarium Head Blight and Stripe Rust, and developing an eco-friendly plant defense activator. Soren holds a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences from Ghent University and advanced degrees in Agricultural Biotechnology and Agricultural Engineering from the University of Tehran.
