Dr. Yuanli Liu,with a Public Health and economics training background, has been serving as Professor of Health Policy and Management and Dean of School of Public Health at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College since 2013. From 1993 to 2013, Dr. Liu worked at Harvard School of Public Health in the area of global health policy and practice. In 2003, he served as one of the founding faculty members of a new doctoral major in health systems. From 2005 to 2015, he served as the founding director of Harvard China Health Initiative, responsible for organizing series of applied research studies, senior executives education program and high-level policy dialogues targeting at the major health policy and development issues facing China and the U.S.
Since returning back to his home country in 2013, Dr. Liu had been closely involved in China's healthcare reform and development initiatives as one of the leading policy advisers and organizers of top Think-Tank and social organizations. He currently serves as a member of the State Council Healthcare Reform Expert Committee, President of the Chinese Aging Well Association, Vice Chairman of the National Commission on Health Promotion and Education, a member of the National Commission for Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the National Commission for drafting the Essential Healthcare and Health Promotion Law. In 2017, Dr. Liu was named one of the top 50 most influential people in China with an overseas education and working background. He also has consulted for many international organizations including WHO, WB and Fortune 500 companies.
