Jim Stedman has a diverse background in various industries, including production, advertising, and project management. Jim cofounded and served as the President of 05minute Productions, where they worked as a writer, director, producer, and editor on various projects. Jim also worked with the Austin Film Society on editing projects and was a producer, director, and editor. Jim worked as a Senior Project Manager and Digital Producer at FG SQUARED Interactive Marketing, where they were responsible for project management and creating project scopes, requirements, and timelines. Additionally, they co-created the ANGST comic strip and worked as a project manager at Cortex Communications, Inc. Jim also had experience as an account manager and production assistant in the Museum Planning Consultant Division at Stegeman and Kastner, Inc. and as an account manager and creative at Pasley Strategic Advertising. Jim started their career as a copywriter in various advertising agencies, including The Walt Disney Company, Fox, and Nine-Fifteen Advertising Agency, where they also co-owned the company.

From 1981 to 1985, Jim Stedman pursued their higher education at The University of Texas at Austin, where they obtained a degree in Marketing. During their time at the university, they focused on various areas of study such as business, marketing, advertising, and film/video.

Founded in 1985 by filmmaker Richard Linklater, AFS creates life-changing opportunities for filmmakers, catalyzes Austin and Texas as a creative hub, and brings the community together around great film. AFS supports filmmakers towards career leaps, encouraging exceptional artistic projects with grants and support services.
