Vincent Thijs

Vincent Thijs serves as the Director of Neurology and Head of Stroke Medicine at Austin Health since July 2015 and holds the position of Professorial Fellow at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. Active in the scientific community, Vincent Thijs has been a member of the Belgian Stroke Council's scientific board since 2001 and part of the International Stroke Genetics Consortium since 2007. Prior academic roles include professorships at University Hospitals Leuven and Catholic University Leuven until July 2015 and serving as the president of the scientific board of the Belgian Stroke Council from 2000 to 2008. Vincent Thijs’s formative training includes a Doctor of Medicine degree from KU Leuven and a Bachelor in Medicine from Université de Namur. Previous positions also include roles at Stanford University School of Medicine as a research fellow and a neurology resident at gasthuisberg.
