Gary Starr

Gary Starr is the EGM Customer & Commercial at Australia Post. Gary has over 10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, having served as the Vice President at Motorola Solutions from December 2004 to December 2014. In this role, they were responsible for business leadership in Australasia and South East Asian countries and was a member of Asia Pacific/Middle East Senior Leadership Team.

During their time at Motorola Solutions, Gary helped grow the business in South East Asia after a transition year in 2013, despite a tough political environment including elections, a military coup, and corruption. Gary also developed relationships with senior government and business leaders across the region. In addition, Gary secured a 15 year Queensland Government Wireless Network outsourcing contract in partnership with Telstra and extended the Victorian Mobile Data contract for a further two years.

In April 2015, Gary was announced as the preferred supplier for a SA Government refresh and ongoing managed services contract worth $175m. Gary also won a 5 year Managed Wifi services contract with David Jones against stiff competition from carriers. In addition, Gary worked with Asia Pacific Senior Leadership Team to restructure the organisation to leverage central support functions more effectively and create a more customer focused go-to-market.

Gary has also developed a strong, highly effective internal network globally to support the business’ objectives. Gary has acted as an executive mentor to emerging leaders in Motorola's top talent program.

Gary Starr completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in computer science/electrical engineering from Monash University. Gary then attended Mount Scopus Memorial College.
