Jennifer Hurrell

Jennifer Hurrell has extensive work experience in the healthcare sector. Jennifer started their career in 1997 as a Registered Nurse at Austin Health, specializing in Neurosurgical unit care and also had expertise in asthma and breastfeeding management. From 2001 to 2002, they worked as a Registered Midwife at The Royal Women's Hospital. In 2003, they joined Bendigo Community Health Services as a Youth Health Nurse, where they provided case management, health assessments, advocacy, and health education. Jennifer later became a Health and Safety Representative at the same organization.

Jennifer also has experience in lactation consulting. From 2019 to 2020, they worked as a Relieving Lactation Consultant at Melton City Council. Additionally, they have been running their private practice as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 2014, offering breastfeeding assessment and management plans.

Jennifer's experience also includes roles in maternal and child health nursing. Jennifer worked at City of Greater Bendigo as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse from 2022 to 2023. Prior to that, they had a similar role at Loddon Shire Council from 2023.

Furthermore, Jennifer has been actively involved with the Australian Breastfeeding Association since 2010, where they have served as a Breastfeeding Counsellor, Group Leader, Breastpump Hiring Officer, and Community Educator. Jennifer is also part of the Branch Team for Victoria and a trainer and assessor for the association.

Jennifer Hurrell has a Bachelor's degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from Deakin University, which they completed from 1994 to 1996. Jennifer also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery from La Trobe University, obtained from 2000 to 2001. In 2020-2021, Jennifer pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Family Health Nursing, specializing in Maternal and Child Health, from RMIT University. Jennifer has completed vocational training and assessment in the form of a Certificate IV from the Australian Breastfeeding Association (RTO) in 2015-2016. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education (Counselling) from the Australian Breastfeeding Association in 2007-2010. In 2017, Jennifer completed the Loddon Mallee Community Leadership Program from LEAD Loddon Murray. Finally, they briefly studied Physical Sciences at Monash University from 1992 to 1993, but did not complete the degree.
