George Tharenou has extensive experience in economic research and analysis, currently serving as Head of Macro Research for Australia and New Zealand and Chief Economist at UBS since August 2006. Previously held titles at UBS include Chief Economist and Senior Economist for Australia. George contributes to the Australian Business Economists as an Executive Committee Member since September 2017 and has prior experience as an Analyst in Financial Markets at the Reserve Bank of Australia from 2004 to 2006, and as an Economist at Queensland Treasury from 2002 to 2004. Academically, George earned an Honours degree in Economics and a Bachelor Double Degree in Economics and Banking & Finance from Queensland University of Technology.
