Michelle Palethorpe

Michelle Palethorpe has a diverse work experience, starting their career at Slaughter and May as an Associate from January 2004 to November 2006. Michelle then joined Herbert Smith Freehills, where they served as a Solicitor from February 2000 to December 2003, before becoming a Senior Associate from February 2000 to April 2014 and eventually an Executive Counsel from May 2014 to November 2018.

In 2016, Michelle took on a role as a Non-Executive Director at SportWest (Western Australian Sport Federation) and served till the present.

Additionally, Michelle has been actively involved in various board positions, including Chair of the Doubleview Primary School Board from January 2018 to March 2022 and a Director at Baseball WA from 2014 to April 2016.

Currently, Michelle holds the position of General Counsel and Company Secretary at AFG starting from June 2023, after serving as the General Counsel at the same company from December 2018 to June 2023.

Michelle Palethorpe earned a Bachelor's Degree in Law from The University of Western Australia from 1997 to 1999. Michelle then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Economic/Finance from Georgia College & State University between 1993 and 1996. In 2013, Michelle Palethorpe completed a program at the Australian Institute of Company Directors, obtaining a GAICD certification.
