David Atkins

David Atkins serves as the General Manager of Industrial Energy Efficiency at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water since June 2023. Previously, David held multiple positions within the Australian Government Department of Education, including Assistant Secretary (Engagement) for the Australian Universities Accord, Senior Advisor, and Branch Manager for IT systems and governance. David also served as Assistant Secretary for International roles at the Department of Education, Skills and Employment, and as Director for various branches at the Department of Education, Employment, and Workplace Relations. Earlier career experiences include serving as a Policy Advisor at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and a General Manager at Singapore Airlines. David earned a PhD in Chemical Physics from The Australian National University between 1989 and 1995.
