Mitchell Hewes

Mitchell Hewes is a seasoned computer security professional with extensive experience in safeguarding critical infrastructure and advancing cyber security practices in the nuclear sector. Currently serving as a Computer Security Advisor at ANSTO since November 2011, Mitchell has played a key role in protecting the organization’s IT and OT systems from cyber threats. Previously, as an Information and Computer Security Officer at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mitchell led various international research projects and training initiatives aimed at enhancing the regulatory framework and technical capabilities for cyber-secure uses of nuclear materials. Mitchell has also contributed significantly in other capacities within the IAEA, including supporting the development of guidance documents and curricula for computer security training. Mitchell holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with Distinction, specializing in Digital Systems Security from the University of Wollongong.
