Denise Heckmann

Denise Heckmann, Ph.D., currently serves as a Senior Technology Safeguards Officer at the Australian Space Agency since June 2024. Prior to this role, Denise worked as a Relief Teacher at Coburg High School for a brief period in 2024 and as a Senior Consultant and Consultant at Nous Group from January 2022 to March 2024. Denise has extensive experience in education, having been a Learning Area Leader and Teacher in Science, Biology, and Chemistry at Footscray High School from January 2020 to December 2021, as well as a Teach for Australia Associate during the same time. From 2015 to early 2020, Denise conducted PhD research at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, focusing on cell death in acute myeloid leukemia, and also served as a Science Mentor at the Gene Technology Access Centre. Denise's academic credentials include a Doctorate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Education from Australian Catholic University, and dual master's and bachelor's degrees in Biotechnology from Hochschule Mannheim.
