Brett Zimmermann

Brett Zimmermann is an experienced tax law professional currently serving as the Assistant Commissioner in the Tax Counsel Network at the Australian Taxation Office since February 2019, and as the Acting Deputy Chief Tax Counsel. Prior to this role, Brett worked as a Senior Associate at DW Fox Tucker Lawyers from October 2014 to February 2019, specializing in taxation and commercial law, particularly in capital gains tax and corporate tax issues. Brett also held positions as a Masters Seminar Leader in Taxation Law at the University of Adelaide and as a Technical Author for Thomson Reuters Legal Australia, contributing to several tax law commentary services. Previously, Brett served as a Senior Associate at multiple law firms and spent eight years as a Senior Manager at EY. Educational qualifications include a Masters of Taxation from UNSW, a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Adelaide, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Adelaide.
