Jonathan Byun's work experience starts in 2012 when they worked as an Automation Consultant for Willow Ware Australia Pty Ltd, where they designed and implemented assembly line automation. Jonathan later worked as a System Engineer for Samsung SDS Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, where they specialized in technology consulting and developed software tools to streamline work processes. In 2013, they became an Automation Consultant for Rio Tinto, working on the development of an automated dashboard for the track health team. Jonathan then worked as a Control System Engineer for Wintech Engineering, designing a new control system for the company's product line. Jonathan also worked as a Robotics Engineer for Autronics and as a Co-Founder and CTO for Explor AI, a start-up focused on building a self-learning recommender engine. From 2014 to 2016, they worked for Telstra as a Software Engineer and Data Scientist, where they developed web applications and contributed to the development of data analytics platforms. Jonathan later joined Liberty Financial Pty Ltd as a Senior Data Scientist, working on various projects related to residential and motor loans. Most recently, they have been working at Australian Unity as the Head of AI and Machine Learning, overseeing all aspects of AI and machine learning initiatives and driving innovation.

Jonathan Byun's education history begins with their bachelor's degree at the University of Melbourne, where they pursued a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours, which was completed in 2011. Additionally, they obtained a Bachelor of Computer Science from the same institution during the same year.

Later, Jonathan enrolled at Deakin University and completed a Master of Business Analytics with a specialization in Data Science. Jonathan achieved a remarkable 4.0 GPA, making him the top graduate in their class. This accomplishment occurred in 2016.

Jonathan also acquired various certifications to supplement their education. In 2012, they obtained the Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) Core certification from Dassault Systèmes. Additionally, they completed the Electrical D-license Course, receiving a completion certificate from RMIT University in June 2012.

In 2021, Jonathan joined the University of Melbourne once again to participate in their Accelerator Program, focusing on Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Studies. At present, they are still pursuing this accelerated program.
