George Smith

George Smith is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in engineering and project management within the maritime and industrial sectors. Currently serving as the Shipmanagement Manager at Cruceros Australis since February 2015, George oversees the maintenance and operational safety of vessels, ensuring compliance with international ISM standards and managing the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) function of the company. Prior to this role, George held positions at Jacobs as a Senior Field Engineer and Technical Services Manager for significant projects, including the relocation of Methanex plants to Louisiana. Additionally, George has a strong foundation in project management and mechanical engineering, gained from a long career at Methanex Corporation and as a Naval Mechanical Engineer in the Chilean Navy, where George retired as a 1st Lieutenant. George holds a degree in Naval Mechanical Engineering from the Escuela de Ingeniería de la Armada de Chile.
