Nathan Short

Senior Researcher at AuthenticID

Nathan Short has extensive work experience, beginning with an Engineering Intern position at Science Applications International Corporation in 2004. In 2007, they worked as an Engineering Intern at the National Biometric Security Project. From 2008 to 2009, they worked as a Software Engineer at VTLS Inc. and then as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Virginia Tech from 2009 to 2012. From 2012 to 2021, they held the roles of Lead Associate/Senior Lead Scientist and Associate/Lead Scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton. In 2021, they moved to The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory as a Senior Professional Staff II. Most recently, in 2022, they began working as a Senior Researcher at AuthenticID.

Nathan Short received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2012, following a Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Engineering from the same institution in 2009. Nathan also holds two Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees from West Virginia University, one in Biometric Systems and the other in Computer Engineering, which they earned between 2003 and 2007.
