Adele Leighton

National Director at Autism Initiatives

Adele Leighton has an extensive work experience that spans across multiple industries. Adele is currently working at Autism Initiatives as the Director of Operations since April 2023. Prior to their current position, they worked at the Alzheimer's Society, starting in November 2013 as the Regional Operations Manager for Northern Ireland, and later becoming the Head of Dementia Voice from September 2017 to March 2023. In 2019, Adele served as a Member of the Board of Trustees for the PANDAS Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing pre and postnatal depression. From December 2006 to October 2013, they held various roles at Mencap, including Programme Manager for Children & Young People, Project Manager for Raising Your Game, and Community Development. Adele also worked as the Corporate Fundraising Manager at the Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke organization from August 2005 to December 2006. Prior to that, they gained experience as a Senior Event Manager at Roche Products and as a Cabin Crew member at Emirates.

Adele Leighton began their education in 1988 at Arnold School in Blackpool. Adele completed their Bachelor's degree in Fashion & Textiles at Nottingham Trent University from 1995 to 1999. Following that, they pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing at the University of Hertfordshire from 2001 to 2003. Most recently, from 2015 to 2018, Adele attended the University of Stirling where they obtained an MSc in Dementia Studies.
