Lead Engineer at Automation Intelligence

Michael Buckley has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering. Michael currently holds the position of Lead Engineer at Automation Intelligence since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Controls Engineer at Automation NTH from December 2021 to March 2023. In this role, they were responsible for mechanical and electrical design and setup, robotic and PLC programming, and HMI design.

Before joining Automation NTH, Michael worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Michael worked in the research lab of Dr. Bill Hamel, where their research focused on Large Scale Additive Metals Manufacturing (LSAMM) using robotic manipulators fitted with weld torches. Prior to this, they worked as an undergraduate Research Assistant in the REACH lab of Dr. Caleb Rucker, where they assisted with building and testing soft robotics for biomedical applications.

Overall, Michael has gained experience in various aspects of engineering, including controls engineering, robotics, programming, and research in additive manufacturing and soft robotics.

Michael Buckley completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from 2016 to 2020. Following this, from 2020 to 2021, they pursued and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution.
