Wijnand van de Beek has extensive experience in the financial sector, currently serving as a Senior Strategy Specialist at Autoriteit Financiële Markten since 2003, where responsibilities include managing the AFM Strategy 2023-2026 and consumer protection initiatives as Chair of the Joint Committee Sub-Committee on Consumer Protection and Financial Innovation. Previous roles at Autoriteit Financiële Markten include Manager of Strategy, Policy and International Affairs, overseeing strategic developments and legislative contributions, Head of the Supervision Department, responsible for the supervision of financial services, and Project Manager for the introduction of the Dutch Financial Services Act. Prior to this, Wijnand van de Beek was with McKinsey & Company from 1991 to 2003, where a prominent role included establishing and managing the European Financial Institutions Center. Earlier experience includes positions at Volmac Nederland and teaching economics at Utrecht University. Wijnand van de Beek holds a Master of Arts degree in History from Utrecht University and completed Gymnasium education at Gymnasium Camphusianum.
