John Davis is the Executive Chairman of AVAD Energy Partners II. Prior to AVAD, John co-founded Alpine Gas Company in 2003. Alpine acquired and operated oil and gas wells in multiple basins in the United States with focus on properties in the eastern shelf of Texas, state waters in Louisiana, and deep salt basin in Mississippi. From 2011 to 2016, Alpine developed multiple deep oil fields in Mississippi, including implementing the deepest known waterflood in the world at over 18,000 Feet.
John began his 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry at Exxon Company in New Orleans. He served five years in the Eastern Division of Exxon where he was a Senior Engineer handling reservoir engineer responsibilities for multiple Gulf Coast and offshore fields, including as the team leader for the development of the 500 BCF Chalkey Field. From 1991 to 2003, John was a Petroleum Engineering Consultant and Vice President/Technical Advisor for Netherland, Sewell & Associates in Dallas. He was responsible for oil and gas evaluations of every major basin in the United States with emphasis on Midcontinent and Gulf Coast properties, including several acquisition opportunities for Ocean Energy and Woodside Petroleum.
John graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering and received a Master in Business Administration degree from the University of New Orleans. John is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers, and is also an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2021 Finalist.
