Tim Gaylor is currently the EVP and Chief Security Officer at Avalara. Prior to this, they spent two years at athenahealth as their Chief Security Officer. As Chief Security Architect, their responsibilities included working with customers' security leadership to assure they met all their security expectations, managing their R&D security development teams which built security into the athenaNet services, initiating the first SDL (Security Development Lifecycle) program at Athena, security process definition and training for R&D teams company wide, providing internal security services such as threat modeling, automation tools, source code analysis, internal application penetration testing, and real time security dashboards for R&D on the state of security in their applications & services.

Tim Gaylor has a Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico School of Engineering.
