Dominic Ortega has extensive experience in social work and support coordination, currently serving as a Support Coordinator at Avalon Housing, Inc. since April 2015. As an MSW Candidate at the University of Michigan School of Social Work since September 2012, Dominic has been involved in various social service roles, including a position as a Career Services Advisor at Jewish Family Services from April 2014 to April 2015, where work focused on assisting foreign professionals who are refugees, asylees, and victims of human trafficking in continuing their careers in the U.S. Prior to these roles, Dominic interned at The Guidance Center in 2013. Dominic holds a Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in Children, Youth, and Families from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University. Educational background includes a diploma from Huron High School.
Avalon Housing
Avalon Housing is an Ann Arbor-based nonprofit created in 1992 to provide supportive long-term housing for people who struggle with homelessness and behavioral and physical health challenges, including substance use disorders. We offer a unique blend of intensive property management, support services and community-building to not only end homelessness but improve people’s quality of life. Avalon serves over 800 adults and children in Washtenaw County.
