Ryan Barker

Senior Gameplay Engineer at AVALON

Ryan Barker has extensive work experience in the gaming industry. Ryan started their career at Sony Online Entertainment as a Senior/Lead Game Designer, where they oversaw the design and creation of expansion systems and content for EverQuest. Ryan also coordinated the creation of the IP codex for EverQuest: Next and shipped 15 AAA multiplayer titles. After leaving Sony Online Entertainment, Barker founded Stonethunder Games and worked as a Founder until 2016. During this time, they gained experience in managing a game development team. Ryan then joined Pixelmage Games as a Software Engineer, where they contributed to the development of the game "Hero's Song." Barker was responsible for creating various gameplay systems, such as inventory management, merchant interfaces, mapping tools, and combat abilities. After leaving Pixelmage Games, they worked at Amazon as a Software Development Engineer, specializing in game development. Ryan recently joined AVALON as a Senior Gameplay Engineer.

Ryan Barker has a diverse education history. In 1994, they completed their high school education at Centralia High School. Ryan then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry at Northwest Nazarene University from 1997 to 2001. In 2015, Ryan enrolled in San Diego State University and obtained an Advanced Certificate in Web and Mobile Development, focusing on Computer Science. Additionally, in 2014, they pursued further education in Computer Software Engineering through a program at Udacity. Unfortunately, the end year of their studies at Udacity is not provided.
