Martin J. Howle

SVP, Development, Mid-Atlantic at AvalonBay Communities

Martin Howle is the Senior Vice President of Development for AvalonBay Communities in the Mid-Atlantic region. Martin has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, with a focus on mixed-use development projects. Prior to joining AvalonBay, Mr. Howle served as Executive Vice President and Regional Investment Director for Post Properties, Inc., where they established the company's Mid-Atlantic regional office and facilitated the investment in institutional grade, high density mixed-use multifamily assets. Martin has also held senior development positions with JPI, Inc. and Lincoln Property Company. Mr. Howle earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Virginia.

Martin Howle has a Masters in Real Estate Development from Columbia University as well as a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture from North Carolina State University. Additionally, they did an urban planning and architecture exchange program at Technische Universität Wien.

They are on a team with Ronald S. Ladell - SVP, Development, NJ, Kevin O'Shea - Chief Financial Officer, and Michael J. Roberts - SVP, Development, MA. Their manager is Benjamin W. Schall, CEO & President.
