Nick Johansen

Nick Johansen has a diverse work experience in the renewable energy sector. Nick started their career as an Engineering Intern at Siemens Wind Power, where they focused on improving wind turbine blade testing processes. Nick then joined Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy as a Wind Farm Wake and SCADA Measurements Analyst. Later, they worked at the Technical University of Denmark as a Graduate Student, specializing in Wind Energy and conducting research on aeroelastic simulation loads.

Nick then joined Iberdrola Renewables as a Wind Turbine Site Suitability Engineer and Operational Wind Farm SCADA Analyst. Nick was responsible for designing wind farm layouts and analyzing operational SCADA data to optimize wind turbine performance. After that, they worked at Avangrid Renewables, initially as a System Engineer in Commercial Operations. In this role, they developed and supported wind turbine performance monitoring and reporting systems. Nick then became a Supervisor in the Systems Engineer, Wind Turbine Performance team, where they contributed to the optimization of a global wind portfolio. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Analyst-Renewables Operations at Avangrid Renewables, focusing on delivering insights and custom performance reporting for wind and solar PV operations.

Throughout their career, Nick has demonstrated their expertise in analyzing complex datasets and delivering actionable information to improve operational performance in the renewable energy industry.

Nick Johansen obtained their MSc. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Wind Energy from DTU - Technical University of Denmark in the years 2007-2009. Prior to that, they completed their MS in Aerospace Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo between 1997 and 2003. In addition, Nick has obtained multiple certifications in various areas such as Python data retrieval and processing, machine learning, developing data products, and statistical analysis through Coursera course certificates.
