Anne Leijsen

Director, Medical Writing at Avania

Anne Leijsen has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Anne started their career as a waitress at Café Restaurant De Rustende Jager from an unknown start date to 2009. From 2009 to 2012, they worked as a waitress at Lunch- en Dinerlokaal De Vestibule. In 2013, they worked as a Beach Lifeguard at KNRM for two months. In 2014, they joined Factory CRO for Medical Devices and IVDs where they held various roles. Anne started as a Clinical Research Associate from November 2014 to May 2017, responsible for setting up clinical trials and ensuring protocol compliance. From December 2014 to June 2017, they were a Medical Writer, planning and preparing clinical investigation documents. In June 2017, they became the Head of Medical Writing until March 2020. In the same company, they also worked as a Senior Clinical Research Associate from June 2017 to March 2020. Most recently, in March 2020, Factory CRO continued under a new name, Avania, where they currently hold the position of Director, Medical Writing. Avania is a full-service contract research organization focused on managing clinical studies for medical devices, IVDs, biologics, and device-drug combination products internationally.

Anne Leijsen's education history begins with their completion of a Gymnasium degree at Murmellius Gymnasium Alkmaar from 2003 to 2009, with their majors being "Nature and Technology" and "Nature and Health." Anne then attended the University of Groningen from 2009 to 2012, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Life Science & Technology, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. At the same university, they also completed an additional Bachelor's degree through the Honours College program.

Continuing their educational journey, Leijsen pursued a Master's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague from 2012 to 2013. Anne later completed another Master's degree in the same field at Trinity College Dublin from 2013 to 2014.
