Karen Pierce began their work experience in 1986 as a Process Engineer at Parlex Corporation. From 1988 to 1990, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at CR Bard, where they conducted research on material properties and developed a test system for Finite Element Modeling. Karen then joined Boston Scientific in 1990 and held various roles, including Senior Plastics Manufacturing Engineer and Technical Program Manager. Karen worked at Boston Scientific until 1999. In 2003, they joined Northeast Specialty Hospital as a Respiratory Therapist and stayed there until 2005. From 2005 to 2016, Karen served on the Board of Directors and held various leadership positions in different organizations. Currently, Karen is employed as a Consultant in Program Management at Avania. Their work experience spans over 30 years and includes roles in engineering, healthcare, and program management.
Karen Pierce holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Material Science and Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Karen also earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Respiratory Therapy from Massasoit Community College. In addition to their formal education, Karen has acquired various certifications, including a Clinical Research Certificate from Boston College, a Data Management for Clinical Research certificate from Coursera, a GCP Certification from NIDA Clinical Trials Network, and they have completed courses such as Design and Interpretation of Clinical Trials and Understanding Clinical Research: Behind the Statistics through Coursera.
