Becklar LLC, parent company of both AvantGuard Monitoring Centers and Freeus, announced the appointment of Steve Richards as Chief Executive Officer in March 2021. 

Steve Richards takes the reigns as a seasoned CEO who has led numerous publicly traded and private companies of meaningful scale over more than two decades of senior leadership. “Steve brings the right balance of expertise and leadership skills to take Becklar through its next phase of growth,” stated Josh Garner, Becklar’s founder and chairman of the board.

Richards is a skilled leader known for systemically driving growth via a proven series of organic and acquisition-driven initiatives. His track record includes experience across technology, media, communications, business process outsourcing, and recurring services firms, all marked by a consistent history for driving transformational growth and exceptional client service.

Steve Richards

Clint Halverson is the Chief People Officer of Becklar, LLC, the holding company for AvantGuard Monitoring and Freeus. Clint joined the team in September 2020. Prior to joining the Becklar team, he spent 15 years with a publicly traded real estate company serving in various management positions including internal audit, operations, investor relations, public relations, and ultimately spending his last 6 years as their head of people.

Clint began his career as a consultant with Ernst & Young in Seattle, Washington. He moved to Seattle after graduating with a Finance degree from [Brigham Young University](/org/brigham-young-university). Subsequently, he earned his MBA from [Weber State University](/org/weber-state-university).

Clint is a people and culture leader with an HR heart and a business mind. As a strategic leader with broad and diversified business experience, he brings a unique and creative approach to drive innovation throughout the organization. He has extensive experience in strategically leading organizational design and effectiveness, human resources, culture and engagement, talent acquisition, total rewards, and talent development.

Clint currently serves as a member of the board of directors for EMI Health, one of the country’s longest-standing health insurance carriers, offering medical, dental, and vision products and services to nearly 320,000 members. He also serves as EMI's chair of the audit committee and a member of their executive committee.

Clint Halverson

Brian Davis joined Becklar, the holding company for AvantGuard Monitoring and Freeus, as Chief Financial Officer in December 2017. Davis brings nearly 30 years of accounting and CFO experience to the Becklar team. He completed his undergraduate degree in accounting from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1995, and subsequently earned his CPA license in 2000.

Davis started his career with a large, regional public accounting firm. Shortly thereafter, he transitioned into the healthcare industry, moving quickly up the ranks for 17 years. He worked as CFO for four companies prior to joining Becklar, serving on their executive teams, planning and executing strategic functions, and overseeing the accounting operations of each firm. He has been lauded for dramatically improving cash flow and internal controls.

Brian Davis

Troy Iverson is the Senior Vice President of Sales at AvantGuard Monitoring. He has been with AvantGuard for nearly fifteen years and brought incredible growth to the dealer and subscriber base at AG.

Iverson attended [Weber State University](/org/weber-state-university) and graduated with a degree in Technical Sales. Iverson has always had a passion for sales and service. His education and skillset are greatly in-sync with the company culture at AvantGuard.

Iverson’s accomplishments have not gone without notice in the security industry, having been recognized in Security Systems News’ 20 under 40 in 2014 and has been major contributing part of building a company that has opened up two additional central station and creating one of the most successful sales teams in the industry.

Troy Iverson

Justin Bailey joined AvantGuard in June of 2010, as V.P. of Strategic Development, leading AG’s IT team in software development as well as developing and implementing various monitoring center tools and equipment.

Taking the reigns as President in May 2017, Bailey has led the company through dramatic growth, driving key strategic functions and forging beneficial partnerships with AG’s customers, manufacturers, service providers, and industry influencers. He was integral in developing hybrid partnership models that allowed traditional security companies with internal central stations to leverage AvantGuard’s technology infrastructure and advanced monitoring software as managed services.

Mr. Bailey is a strong proponent for the acceleration of technological standards for alarm-related industries. During the Covid pandemic, he was influential in launching an emergency mobile monitoring plan that enabled monitoring center operators to work from home to ensure uninterrupted, quality service for subscribers while maintaining operator safety and well-being. He has also driven the successful implementation of an artificial intelligence solution to automate the handling of false alarms and expedite emergency calls.

Justin Bailey

Rich Watts is the Vice President of Information Security at AvantGuard Monitoring. Watts has more than 20 years of experience in the information technology field and has been with AvantGuard since 2016.

Originally starting his career teaching AP Calculus at Roy High School, he had previously earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1996 from [Weber State University](/org/weber-state-university).

Prior to joining AvantGuard, Watts managed the network team at [H&R Block](/org/hr-block). While there, his team built and supported a highly available network which he says has transferred directly into the work he does at AvantGuard.

Watts has earned relevant industry certifications from [Cisco](/org/cisco), Microsoft, [CompTIA](/org/comptia), and ITIL, further demonstrating his competence and expertise in his role.
