Paulo Carvalho has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. Paulo co-founded Avantsoft in 2016 and served as the CEO, where they designed software systems for different companies and managed multiple teams. Paulo also negotiated contracts to bring in new customers. In 2022, Carvalho became an official member of the Forbes Technology Council and co-founded StartVC. At StartVC, they structured a fund and selection process to invest in startups and frequently gave speeches and appeared as a guest to discuss startups and entrepreneurship. Paulo worked as a technical advisor and founding engineer at Teleport from 2020 to 2021, where they designed and maintained backend systems and scaled them to handle high requests. Carvalho also served as an advisor and board member at Bigdelivery and co-developed a micro-service architecture to support an eCommerce company. Additionally, they worked as a scientific researcher at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where they contributed to the NeuroRobot project and designed electronics and firmware for MRI-compatible robots. As a visiting researcher at ETH Zürich in 2019, Carvalho implemented algorithms and developed LabView modules for decoding human intention and controlling rehabilitation robots in MRI. Paulo has also worked at Big Carnes as an interim Chief Technology Officer, implementing stock control processes, adjusting expense management, and transitioning IT infrastructure to the cloud. Lastly, Carvalho worked as a research assistant and academic tutor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, conducting research in nanophotonic circuits and providing academic support.

Paulo Carvalho earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering & Robotics Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 2011 to 2015. Paulo then pursued a Master's Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from the same institution, which they completed in 2016.

Afterward, from 2016 to 2020, Paulo Carvalho attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute again and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering.

In 2019, Paulo Carvalho pursued additional certifications. Paulo completed a Nanodegree in AI Product Management from Udacity and obtained certifications such as Certified Project Officer (CPO) and Lean Six Sigma White Belt Certification from the Institute of Project Management and Aveta Business Institute, respectively. Paulo also obtained the MR: Safety certification from GE Healthcare in 2019.

In 2020, Paulo Carvalho pursued further learning by completing a Nanodegree in Deep Reinforcement Learning from Udacity.

Paulo Carvalho also has additional certifications in various fields. Paulo obtained the Protecting Human Research Participants certification from the National Institutes of Health Office of Extramural Research in 2014 and the OSHA 10 Hour certification from OSHA 10 Hour Training in the same year. Paulo acquired the Web Development certification from Udacity in 2013 and achieved the Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2019.

Most recently, in 2022, Paulo Carvalho completed the Startup School Online program, although the degree and field of study are not specified.
