William Chien

Director of Software at Avegant

William Chien has over 25 years of work experience in the technology industry. William began their career in 1993 as a Product Line Manager at C-Cube Microsystems, where they developed the PC market for C-Cube video encoder chips. In 1999, they moved to Pinnacle Systems as Director of Product Management, where they were responsible for product strategy and roadmap, product introduction process, market requirements, competitive analysis, P&L, pricing strategy, and inventory management. In 2005, they joined Netflix Inc. as Director of Product Management, where they were responsible for the electronic delivery platform that became the Netflix streaming service. In 2008, they co-founded PhotoBento, where they created an easy way to share photos/videos slideshows with non-techie family members. In 2010, they joined Logitech as Director of Product Management and Senior Product Manager, where they launched the Harmony Smart Control and Harmony Home. In 2015, they moved to Intel Corporation as a Senior Product Manager. William currently works at Avegant as Director of Software, where they lead a team to develop system software and SDK to support new Augmented Reality Light-Field display.

William Chien earned their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University between 1986 and 1990. William then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, graduating in 1993.
