James Savage has worked in a variety of roles across a range of companies since 2008. From 2008 to 2010, they worked as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at La Trobe University. In 2010, they joined The Australian Treasury as an Analyst, and in 2012, they moved to Grattan Institute as a Senior Associate. In 2014, they took part in the Eric & Wendy Schmidt Data Science for Social Good fellowship at University of Chicago. From 2015 to 2018, they worked at Lendable Marketplace as the Head of Data Science and at Australian Productivity Commission as a Technical Advisor. In 2019, they joined Schmidt Futures as the Director of Data Science, Senior Manager of Data Science and Manager, Data Scientist. In 2020, they took on the role of Director Board of Directors at Avela Education.
James Savage attended the University of Melbourne from 2013 to 2017, where they earned a Masters of Economics in Econometrics. From 2005 to 2009, they attended La Trobe University, where they earned a Bachelor of Economics. James also participated in the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Data Science for Social Good summer fellowship at the University of Chicago.
