Robert Downes

Robert Downes has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Robert currently holds the position of SVP, Head of Aircraft Trading and Managing Director at Aviation Capital Group (ACG), a role they have held since October 2021. Prior to this, they served as the VP of Aircraft Trading and Managing Director at ACG Ireland from March 2019 to October 2021. In August 2018, Robert joined ACG as the VP of Aircraft Trading.

In addition to their roles at ACG, Robert has also worked at Aircraft Leasing Ireland as a member of the ALI ESG Working Group, contributing to the advancement of ESG policy and initiatives in the leasing community. Robert joined the company in July 2021.

Before joining the aviation industry, Robert held positions at Ramsterl as a Director, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise as the VP of Aircraft Investor Services (AIS) and Corporate Finance Director, and AWAS as the Corporate Finance Director, Pricing and Investment Systems Manager, and Commercial Manager. Robert also founded Pentathlon Ireland, where they served as President and Director for five years.

Robert's early career included positions at Airbus, where they worked in various roles, including Manager of the Flight Test Development Engineering Team and Coordinator of A380 Flight Test. Robert also worked at FLS Aerospace as a Student Engineer.

Robert Downes has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Limerick (1997-2001) and an MBA in Business from the University College Dublin (2010-2011). Additionally, they attended Clongowes Wood College from 1990 to 1996.
