W. Brian Chiu has extensive experience in the healthcare industry, particularly in the field of electrocardiogram (ECG) algorithms. W. Brian worked as a Signal Processing Engineer at Ventric Health from October 2018 onwards, where they developed ECG algorithms from scratch. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Algorithms Engineer at Mortara Instrument from March 2013 to September 2018. In this role, they developed automated ECG interpretation algorithms for various medical conditions and also worked on measuring serum potassium and electrode impedance, as well as SpO2 and oscillometric blood pressure algorithms.
W. Brian Chiu's earlier experience includes being the Lead Researcher at Dynacardia, Inc. from August 2005 to February 2013. Here, they conducted medical research in signal processing and feature extraction, developed ECG algorithms and devices, and handled patent generation and regulatory work. Additionally, they were an Assistant Professor at Fooyin University from September 2006 to June 2007.
Prior to their work in the healthcare field, W. Brian Chiu was an Organizer at the United Auto Workers from November 2003 to July 2005, and an Engineer at Preston Cinema Systems from August 2001 to October 2003. In their role as an Engineer, they were responsible for test engineering for film camera lens control devices.
Overall, W. Brian Chiu has a diverse range of experiences that demonstrate their expertise in signal processing, algorithm development, and medical research in the healthcare industry.
W. Brian Chiu obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems & Control Engineering from UC San Diego in the years between 1990 and 1994. W. Brian went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at UC Irvine from 1994 to 1995. Chiu continued their studies at UC Irvine and completed a Ph.D. in Engineering from 1996 to 2001.
