Joseph Plazak

Joseph Plazak is a seasoned professional in music technology and academia, currently serving as the Sibelius Product Owner and Senior Principal Software Developer at Avid since August 2017. With a strong background in C++ development, Joseph leads the design of the innovative "Sibelius for Mobile" music notation tool and has received four Avid Patent Program Awards. Prior to Avid, Joseph held positions as a visiting professor at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, focusing on music industry careers and research on musical communication. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Music Cognition and Empirical Musicology from The Ohio State University and a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from Concordia University. Joseph also has experience in flight instruction and music education, having published numerous scholarly papers and developed courses in music theory and technology.
