Katie Biester is an experienced educator and facilitator currently serving as a Student Teacher at Madison East High School since January 2018. In addition to this role, Katie has been facilitating seminars on diversity and inclusion with first-year students at Our Wisconsin since September 2016 and has participated in research initiatives. As a fully trained tutor in the AVID system, Katie has led small group sessions to support student learning. Previous experience includes developing a mentorship program for pharmacy students and creating an innovative curriculum focused on Beyoncé's visual album Lemonade for high school students in the UW-Madison PEOPLE Program. With a strong background in academic coaching and student organizing for educational equity, Katie holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor’s Degree in History, Political Science, and Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
