Avis is a non-profit association which pursues a public interest: to ensure adequate availability of blood and plasma to all patients who need it. It bases its activity on the principles of democracy, free social participation and on volunteering as a central and irreplaceable element of human solidarity. Blood and plasma donors are voluntary, anonymous and unpaid.

Priorities of Avis Emilia-Romagna, through its activities and the work of the thematic areas, are the promotion of correct lifestyles, responsible and aware sexuality, balanced nutrition, the practice of sport, intergenerational solidarity, the fight against bullying and various forms of discrimination.

Its activities are coordination of the associative structures of the territory and participation in all the activities of the Regional Blood System; collaboration with the Region for the programming of the multi-year Blood Plan managed by the Regional Blood Centre; promotion of numerous activities in the area to grow the culture of gift also in the world of school, sport, communities of new citizens.
