Barbara (Nsiah) Anderson, Ph.D. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of biomedical engineering and regenerative medicine. Barbara has held various roles in different organizations, showcasing their expertise and leadership abilities. From 2006 to 2012, Barbara served as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology, focusing on mechanical preconditioning effects on embryonic stem cell differentiation. Barbara also conducted experiments using bioreactors to analyze the effects of fluid shear stress and oxygen levels on stem cell differentiation and morphogenesis.

Barbara then moved on to work as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Rice University Department of Bioengineering, where they contributed to the West Laboratory for Biofunctional Materials. Afterward, they joined Duke University as a Regulatory Affairs Intern at the Duke Translation Institute Regulatory Affairs Office, followed by a role as a Clinical Research Intern at the Duke Clinical Research Institute.

In 2012, Barbara became a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Biomedical Engineering at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering, focusing on guiding functional vessel formation using oxygen tension and biomimetic patterns.

From 2014 to 2023, Barbara worked at the United Therapeutics Corporation in various roles, including Senior Scientist in the Regenerative Medicine Laboratory and Director of Tissue Systems and Organ Manufacturing Group. Barbara'sresponsibilities included establishing and optimizing tissue engineering technologies, leading interdisciplinary teams, and identifying strategic partnerships to meet cell sourcing requirements for the development of transplantable organs.

In 2021, they also served as a Commissioner for the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF). Currently, Barbara holds the position of Director of Scientific Affairs at AVITA Medical, further utilizing their scientific expertise.
