After working for many years as an emergency room nurse, Amy now sets her sights on nurse education and simulation training. She is responsible for building the simulation program at the University of Delaware, where she not only found opportunities to redefine modern simulations but also identified challenges with the current model for success. Founding Avkin and leading as its CEO, she sought to increase the levels of interaction with patients in which manikins were not sufficient. Amy is a firm believer in placing emphasis on the empathetic aspects of nursing. Avkin, to her, represents the blending of the art and science of high-fidelity simulation in nursing education. Her philosophy and the culture she creates at Avkin HQ is simple: Work hard, play hard, be a boss.
