Caroline Taylor has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Since April 2022, they have been in the position of Head of Corporate Assurance, Continuous Improvement & Corporate Planning at Avon Fire & Rescue Service. Prior to their current role, Caroline worked at Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service from 2015 to 2022. Their roles there included Corporate Assurance Manager, Interim Head of Organisational Assurance & HMICFRS Service Liaison Officer, and Business Intelligence, Analysis and HMICFRS Inspection Manager. During their time there, they provided strategic direction for the newly formed Performance and Intelligence Unit and managed the HMICFRS Inspection for the service.
Before joining the fire service, Caroline held a position at Somerset County Council as a Children's Services Manager for Management Information/Business Intelligence from 2014 to 2015. Caroline also worked at North Somerset Council from 2007 to 2014, where they served as a Senior Corporate Performance Officer and later as a Senior Auditor, focusing on corporate governance, risk management, and organisational assurance.
Caroline has prior experience in the financial sector as well, having worked at Lloyds Banking Group as a Senior Risk Advisor and Team Manager for Risk Management, Business Continuity, and Health & Safety from 2000 to 2007. Caroline also worked briefly as a Financial Advisor at Canada Life in 2000.
Their earliest work experience was as a Secondary Teacher at Plymstock School from 1997 to 2000, where they taught subjects such as Business Studies, ICT, and Maths.
