Karno Tenovuo has a diverse range of work experience across multiple industries. Karno is currently the Co-founder & CEO of AWAKE.AI, a position they have held since October 2018. Additionally, they serve as the Chairman of the Board for DIMECC Oy, a digital co-creation ecosystem, since April 2020. Prior to this, Karno was a Board Member for Meriteollisuus ry / Finnish Marine Industries, a co-operation forum for maritime solution providers, from December 2017 to December 2018.
Karno has extensive experience in the maritime industry, having held various positions at Rolls-Royce. Karno was Senior Vice President - Ship Intelligence from January 2017 to September 2018, responsible for the strategy and profit & loss of the Ship Intelligence business. Karno also served as Vice President Ship Intelligence - Marine from April 2015 to December 2016, overseeing global Ship Intelligence solutions. Prior to this, Karno was Head of Business Development & Strategy - Marine Engineering & Technology from September 2011 to March 2015, where they developed and maintained the Rolls-Royce Marine Technology Strategy.
Earlier in their career, Karno held positions at STX Finland as a Business Development Manager from July 2008 to August 2011, leading business, R&D, and operational development. Karno also worked at Aker Yards Oy as a Classification Engineer and R&D Engineer from 2004 to 2008, and at Orion Pharma as a Trainee from 2002 to 2003.
Karno has additional work experience as a Terminal Worker at Schenker from 1998 to 2001 and as a Draftee Researcher in the Finnish Defence Forces from December 2000 to June 2001.
Karno Tenovuo's education history begins in 1996 when they attended Summit High School in New Jersey, USA. Karno then went on to complete their Matriculation examination in Natural Sciences at Luostarivuori High School in Turku from 1997 to 2000. In 2001, Karno enrolled at Helsinki University of Technology, where they pursued an M.Sc. in Engineering with a specialization in Systems and Operations Research. Karno successfully completed this program in 2005. Concurrently, from 2003 to 2019, they studied at Turku School of Economics, earning an M.Sc. in Economics with a focus on International Business. Furthermore, Karno engaged in professional development at Rastor College from 2007 to 2009 and obtained a Specialist Qualification in Management, concentrating on Project Management.
