Anne Lao

Anne Lao, CPA, has a diverse work experience that spans multiple industries and roles. Anne is currently an Insights Specialist in Strategy & Performance at Aware Super, a position they started in April 2023. Prior to this, Anne worked at Cbus Super Fund from 2019 to 2023, where they held various roles including Data Analyst, Strategy Analyst, and participant in the AIST Superannuation Program.

Before joining Cbus Super Fund, Anne worked as a Financial Analyst at Smile Solutions Melbourne from 2017 to 2019. Anne also gained experience as an Accounting and PTE Tutor at APLUS Education Group from 2017 to 2018, and as a Credit Controller at Observant for a short period in 2017.

Anne's early career includes an Assurance Internship at EY in 2016, where they performed audit procedures and communicated accounting matters to seniors and managers. Anne also served as a Project Consultant at the Global Challenges Foundation, participating in the Melbourne Business Practicum. In this role, they researched potential partners and explored sustainability accounting practices.

Prior to these experiences, Anne worked as an Accounts Payable Officer at NCG Air Conditioning Centre Pty Ltd from 2015 to 2016 and as a Consultant at MP Management Consulting in 2015. Anne began their career as a Bank Teller at China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Limited in 2013.

Anne Lao, CPA, holds a Master of Management (Accounting) degree from the University of Melbourne, with a specialization in Accounting and Finance. Anne also has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Administration from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Tourism and Travel Services Management from Sun Yat-sen University.

In addition to their formal education, Anne has obtained various certifications throughout their career. Anne is a Certified Practising Accountant from CPA Australia, obtained in July 2021. Anne also holds a Diploma of Superannuation from the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees, obtained in February 2020. Furthermore, they have a Paraprofessional Interpreter (Mandarin to/from English) certification from NAATI, obtained in April 2016. Anne has also completed several other certifications, including Intermediate Python from DataCamp (November 2022), Google Data Analytics Specialisation from Coursera (May 2022), and certifications in the fields of music business, hotel industry analytics, and food safety.
