Michael Barker is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in commercial strategy and procurement within the infrastructure and energy sectors. Currently serving as the Commercial Strategy Lead for a major infrastructure program at AWE since December 2019, Michael previously held significant roles at National Grid, where as Category Manager, managed a team and oversaw a £300 million annual commitment in construction projects, delivering substantial cost savings and leading procurement efforts for major initiatives like the Hinkley power station connection. Additional expertise includes senior procurement management at EDF Energy, focusing on professional services, and strategic category management at BAE Systems, achieving notable savings and operational efficiencies. Michael holds a Master of Science in Business and Management from the University of Plymouth and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Kent.
