AWKI is an Ecuadorian cacao innovation venture redefining chocolate as a platform for science, wellbeing, and regenerative impact.

Founded by Nathalia Padilla and led together with Aziz Murshed, AWKI develops a new category of Cognitive Chocolates, premium chocolates designed through neuroscience, nutrigenomics, and ancestral knowledge to create multisensory experiences that stimulate the body and mind.

Our cacao comes from regenerative ancestral varieties cultivated in the Chocó Andino, Manabí, and Esmeraldas regions, known for their extraordinary genetic diversity. By preserving the natural biochemical complexity of these primitive cacao populations, AWKI produces chocolate that goes far beyond conventional confectionery.

AWKI introduced the world’s first dual multisensory chocolate architecture, where each bar contains two complementary cognitive flavor systems designed to activate sensory contrast and attention through the neuroscience principle of multisensory simultaneous stimulus.

Through our scientific initiatives, we investigate the nutrigenomic and biological properties of ancestral cacao. Early research indicates that the cacao used by AWKI activates metabolic pathways linking the gut, heart, and brain, supporting cognition, emotional balance, and overall well-being.

As a social impact venture, AWKI operates on four pillars: empowering women in cacao communities (both economically and through mental health programs), creating opportunities for marginalized groups, protecting consumer health through natural functional foods, and advancing regenerative sourcing and eco-conscious production.

Our portfolio includes the Harmony Cognitive Chocolate Collection, Purity chocolate sweetened exclusively with cacao mucilage, and ceremonial cacao rooted in ancestral traditions.

Our social impact points are based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 4, 5, 8, 11, and 12.
