David Starke

David Starke currently serves as the Country Director for Ukraine at AWO International, overseeing the organization's operations in Kyiv and managing substantial emergency and reconstruction projects in collaboration with Ukrainian partners. Previously, David held the position of Geschäftsführer at SOS MEDITERRANEE Deutschland e.V., where responsibilities included personnel management and fundraising expansion. Earlier experience encompasses advisory roles at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), leading monitoring and support for significant projects in Turkey and Iraq, and directing operations at Welthungerhilfe, focusing on humanitarian initiatives in Syria, Turkey, and Northern Iraq. David's professional journey began with project coordination and consultancy roles in various organizations, complemented by a Master of Arts in Intercultural Conflict Management and prior studies in Social Work and Social Education from Alice-Salomon-Fachhochschule in Berlin.
