Susan Belak

Susan Belak has a range of work experience in the field of weather science. Susan started their career as an Intern at FOX19 WXIX, where they shadowed meteorologists and gained hands-on experience in creating forecasts and weather graphics. Susan then worked as a Resident Assistant at Ohio University, enforcing university policies and resolving issues within residence halls. Additionally, they served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Ohio University, conducting research on tornado production using radar data.

Susan later worked as a NOAA Hollings Scholar at the National Severe Storms Laboratory, where they worked under the supervision of Dr. Patrick Skinner and Dr. Burkely Gallo. Susan then joined Purdue University as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Weather Radar Research Laboratory, where they performed quality control on radar data.

In 2021, Susan joined INNOVIM as a Physical Scientist, working on the Radiosonde Frequency Migration Project. Susan deployed to National Weather Service (NWS) upper-air sites to install and train employees on the new Manual Radiosonde Observing System (MROS).
