Rafael Tavarez

Rafael Tavarez has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Rafael started their career as an Analyst in the Buying Office at Kohl's in June 2012 and worked there until December 2014. Rafael then transitioned to the role of Senior Analyst in Merchandise Reporting for a year before becoming a Senior Analyst in Merchandise Planning from November 2015 to March 2018. Tavarez then took on the position of Assistant Merchandise Manager in the Buying Office from March 2018 to July 2020.

In June 2021, Tavarez joined Watertower Ventures as an MBA Investment Intern and later became an Investment Associate from June 2022 to January 2023. Watertower Ventures is a venture capital fund that focuses on investing in various startup sectors, including consumer, SaaS enterprise, fintech, and gaming.

Most recently, in June 2023, Tavarez joined Axios HQ as a Senior Financial Analyst.

Rafael Tavarez pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance at the USC Marshall School of Business from 2020 to 2022. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics with a minor in Business from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2012.
