Chibuikem S. Iheagwaram has a diverse range of work experience in the field of neuroscience and psychology. They started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Fisk University in 2021 and continued in this role until 2022. During this time, they also founded AXON Neuroscience Clubs, a non-profit organization aimed at mental health education and empowerment.
In 2022, Chibuikem became a Fisk Consortium student at Vanderbilt University College of Arts & Science, where they took courses in psychology and neuroscience. They also worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center starting in 2023.
Chibuikem was selected as a Gould Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Department of Biology in 2023. They also had the opportunity to present their research at the Southeastern Medical Scientist Symposium in the same year.
Chibuikem's involvement in academic organizations includes being a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and participating in the Program to Advance Training in Health and Sciences (PATHS) at Yale University School of Medicine. They were also recognized as a Generation Google Scholar in 2023 by Google.
Additionally, Chibuikem gained clinical experience through an observation program at the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center of Massachusetts General Hospital in 2023.

Chibuikem S. Iheagwaram completed their high school education at Redeemed People's Academy in Jos, Nigeria, earning a High School Diploma with a focus on Sciences. Chibuikem S. then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Fisk University from 2021 to 2025. During their undergraduate years, they also attended Vanderbilt University without completing a specific degree program. In terms of additional certifications, they participated in the MIT Research Program in Biology & Neuroscience as a Summer 2023 Fellow, obtained a Responsible Conduct of Research for Bio/Physical Sciences certificate from the CITI Program in August 2023, received a Poster Presentation Honorary Certificate from Harvard University's New England Science Symposium in 2023, completed the Exercising Leadership: Foundational Principles course on edX in 2023, and obtained a certification in Fundamental Neuroscience for Neuroimaging from The Johns Hopkins University in 2022.

AXON Neuroscience Clubs
Neuroscience & Psychology student organization with chapters across USA universities. We empower and enrich minds through mental health education. Currently 100 members plus and counting, we are also the first neuroscience and psychology student organization at Fisk University in its 156-year history. We aim to educate, empower, inspire, and enrich the minds of the members of the Fisk University community using knowledge on the human brain. To do this, we will expose our members to neuroscience and psychology concepts and opportunities, as well as current advancements in both fields. We want to learn collectively about how the mind-brain connection affects our daily living. Motto of our organization: Vita le mentis (Latin meaning “the life of the mind”) What We Do Champion neurodiversity in the Fisk community especially concerning differing thought patterns and cultural backgrounds of members Serve as a pathway to explore neuroscience and psychology related careers by having seminars with experienced resource persons Provide a guide to applying for neuroscience-related internships & graduate-school programs Expose the Fisk community to mental wellness concepts and other topics which are not usually talked about including neurodegenerative disorders Invite neuroscience & psychology researchers to give talks to grant the Fisk community a window into the present advancements in the fields of neuroscience and psychology Recognize mental health awareness months and hold events/seminars/marches in that regard, Organize neuroscience hackathons to expose students to concepts in neuroscience Carry out community outreach initiatives to high schools, not-for-profit organizations, and psychiatric units Maintain a running document of information, hereafter known as the depository, for neuroscience and psychology-related opportunities
