Tim Bettles

Mr. Bettles joined AXT in July 2017 as Vice President of Business Development, Strategic Sales and Marketing, with responsibility for AXT’s commercial activities in North America and strategic commercial partnerships globally. With more than 30 years in the semiconductor industry, Mr. Bettles started his career in research and development with a focus on plasma deposition and etch processes, first at Plessey Research and Technology and then Philips Semiconductors. He then moved into his first commercial role with Trikon Technologies (now SPTS Technologies). In 1998, Mr. Bettles joined IQE and in 2001, he moved from the United Kingdom to the U.S. to develop, grow and manage the North America optoelectronics business for IQE. In 2006, he moved into the III-N space to manage business development, first for Crystal IS and then SETi, where he developed new markets for AlN-based materials and ultraviolet LEDs.

Educated in the UK, at the University of Wales in Swansea, he holds a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Electronic Materials Engineering.
