Alex Busch

Sr. Principal Reliability Engineer at Ayar Labs

Alex Busch has a strong background in reliability engineering and quality assurance. Alex started their career in 2001 as a Photonics Specialist at Nortel, where they focused on the characterization and qualification of opto-electronic devices and passive optical components. In 2005, they joined Intel Corporation as a Quality & Reliability Engineer, responsible for ensuring product quality and compliance with hazardous substance restrictions. From 2006 to 2013, Alex worked at Finisar Corporation as a Senior Product Verification & Test Engineer, overseeing verification and test processes for optical transceivers. Alex then moved on to Cisco Systems as a Hardware Engineer, where they managed field escalations and conducted failure analysis for transceiver module products. In 2014, Alex joined Intel Corporation once again, this time as a Reliability Engineer in the Silicon Photonics Solutions Group, focusing on evaluating and improving product reliability. Most recently, in 2016, they joined Google as a Supplier Quality & Reliability Engineer, responsible for driving supplier reliability and qualification of optical transceiver products. In 2021, Alex transitioned to Ayar Labs, where they currently hold the position of Sr. Principal Reliability Engineer.

Alex Busch has a PhD in Physics from The University of British Columbia, which was obtained between 1994 and 2003. Prior to that, they also completed a Master of Applied Science in Physics at The University of British Columbia from 1992 to 1994. Alex'sundergraduate studies were in Engineering Physics, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering from McMaster University between 1989 and 1992. Before their undergraduate studies, Busch briefly attended the University of Calgary for engineering studies.
