Head Of Digital Learning Support at Ayrshire College

Russell Wilson has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Russell started their career at Onetel as a Customer Provisioning Advisor, where they provided administrative support and first-level technical assistance to customers. Russell then moved to NTL Inc., working as an Install Coordinator for large businesses, liaising with field technicians and conducting remote software tests. Wilson later joined Virgin Media as a Training & Development Coordinator, responsible for coordinating and managing training programs company-wide. Russell then transitioned to Diageo as an Occupational Health Project Coordinator, creating community sites and project plans to support the team's goals. Currently, Wilson is the Head of Digital Learning Support at Ayrshire College, where they provide specialist advice, training, and support in learning technologies to the college staff.

Russell Wilson's education history is as follows:

1. From 1998 to 1999, they attended Glasgow Caledonian University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Communication and Media Studies.

2. Prior to that, from 1995 to 1998, Wilson studied at Stow College, where they obtained an HND (Higher National Diploma) in Music Technology.

3. Their earliest educational experience was at Kilmarnock Academy, where they attended from 1988 to 1995. Here, they completed their Standard Grades/Highers, focusing on subjects such as Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, German, Computing, and Geography.

In addition to their formal education, Wilson has also attained various certifications in different fields. Notably, they obtained the Certified Carbon Literate certification from The Carbon Literacy Project in August 2023. Russell also became a Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) through Prodigy Learning in May 2022.

Other certifications they have earned include Managing Safely from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health in March 2022, Level 5 Certificate in Management & Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute in July 2021, and Certified Microsoft Innovative Educator from Microsoft in July 2020.

Russell has also completed several training courses, such as Microsoft Teams Quick Tips in March 2019 and Microsoft Teams Essential Training from LinkedIn and Lynda.com in December 2018. Wilson has undergone multiple programs on the use of Articulate Storyline 360 and Articulate Rise for creating engaging learning experiences.

Furthermore, they have acquired additional certifications and training in various subjects, including the NATS RPAS Course from NATS in September 2018 and PDA Teaching Practice in Scotland's Colleges from the SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) in June 2018.

Lastly, Wilson has pursued interests outside of their field, such as achieving the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) Level 1 Award in Wines in February 2018 and becoming an Apple Teacher through Apple Education in October 2017. Additionally, they completed the SMART Train the trainer program from SMART Technologies in August 2017 and acquired skills in classroom management and Moodle through online courses.
