Head Of The Department Of Medical Physics at AZ Sint-Lucas Gent

Jan Vandecasteele has a diverse work experience in the field of medical radiation physics. Jan is currently serving as the Head of the Department of Medical Radiation Physics at AZ Sint-Lucas Gent since October 2021. Jan previously held the position of Head of Radiation Therapy Physics at the same organization starting from April 2017. Prior to that, they worked as a Medical Physicist Ph.D. at AZ Sint-Lucas Gent from August 2013.

Jan also has experience working at BHPA, where they served as the President starting from February 2019 and as a Member of the Board from February 2015.

Jan Vandecasteele obtained their education from Ghent University. Jan completed their Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Medical Radiation Sciences from 2001 to 2006. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Biomedical and Clinical Engineering with a specialization in Radiation Physics from 2006 to 2008. Jan Vandecasteele then went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Physics with a focus on Radiotherapy from 2008 to 2013, all at Ghent University.

In addition to their academic degrees, Jan Vandecasteele has also obtained certifications. Jan completed a Laboratory Animal Science course category C at Ghent University, and they are certified as a Medical Radiation Expert in Radiotherapy by FANC.
